Unique provides much needed help and information to those caring for a family member with a rare chromosome disorder. These lifelong disorders affect 1 in 200 live-born babies and those affected are often sick and severely disabled, unable to walk or talk. For more information see www.rarechromo.org
On 14 March 2009 I will be shaving my long and luscious locks in support of Unique: the Rare Chromosome Disorder Support Group and my new niece, Efi. This charity has supported Elaine and Stewart at every stage, enabling them to find ways to help little Efi get used to living in the big wide world. The information and advice provided by Unique has been crucial during the first few weeks of Efi's life and has given Elaine and Stewart the confidence to instruct the doctors about how best to care for their daughter.
Please help us to support Unique and the great work they do with the families of children with rare chromosome disorders by donating online. I have promised to raise £500 so I need all of you to dig deep and help out.
For those of you who prefer the old fashioned method of sponsoring someone then me and Em will happily take your cash and forward it to Unique.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Rare Chromosome Disorder Support Group gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
