Welcome to Antorchas de Vida donations page.
Antorchas de Vida (Torches of life) was established in 2001 by husband and wife Luis and Lucy. We initially gained funding from many sources to purchase a house to accommodate the children we wanted to help. The house is in a nice, safe residential area with a park nearby where the children can safely play outdoors. Antorchas de Vida is now home to 74 children from 3 to 17 years old. Many of the children are from the street, from very poor families or from parents with various problems that do not allow them to care for their children.
Our project still supports people living on the streets by providing food, contact and love. Antorchas de Vida is respected and trusted by these people and occasionally when possible, children are invited to stay at the project.
Although our house has become a great home for the children, we are running out of space. Some children don't have their own beds and it is important that as the children get older, we can separate the boys and girls at night.
We have found the perfect house in our neighbourhood, close to our current location. It has an area of 324.46 m2 and doesn't need any initial changes. This new house would provide a separate bedroom for all the boys and with the extra space we could create a study hall, workshop and employment training, computer room, library, lounge, doctor's corner for the children and a warehouse to store food and other materials.Thanks to many kind donations, we are almost half-way towards our goal. Our dream is to raise the rest of the money before this opportunity slips away. Unfortunately houses in our neighbourhood don't come up for sale often, and almost never at such a good price.
