Elvia
and Annabella are my two beautiful 4 month old twin girls that sadly
suffer from Plagiocephaly. This is a disfigurement that is causing the
flattening of their heads, their ears to misalign and foreheads to
bulge. This disfigurement is due to their premature birth at 34 weeks
with low birth weights and the fact it was a multiple birth. The twins
compacted on each other within the womb creating pressure points. Future problems they may have should the Plagiocephaly remain untreated are problems with getting glasses as ears are out of alignment. Problems with getting bicycle/ski helmet to fit unusual headshape. Potential of bullying in school due to abnormal headshape. In severe cases such as this it has been know to affect the alignment of the jaw and teeth.
Correctional
Treatment is possible with the fitting of a helmet especially designed
to correct the shape of their heads. Helmet treatment makes a dramatic
difference. The beneficial effects are outstanding. Treatments
involves a minute fraction of a baby's life and gives them the best
possible start in life. Helmet treatment is non-invasive and causes
the baby no discomfort or distress.
Europe and the US see Plagiocephaly as a serious
matter and provide health care as expected, yet despite mounting
concern here in the UK the NHS are yet to take action and this
treatment is only available privately. We adore and cherish our little girls but are unfortunately not in a
financial position to pay for this treatment so badly needed by our
daughters. We need to raise £4000 in order to give our two little
babies the best possible chance in life.
