Story
Asian
People's Disability Alliance (APDA) is the UK's first and only pan-disability
services charity, set up, run and managed by Asian people with disabilities.
Launched
and active since 1988, APDA is a non-political, multi-faith and non-profit
registered charity.
Our
aim is to provide a full range of the highest level of services to disabled
people, their families and their carers, based on their personal, cultural and
community needs.
APDA’s
services and activities are Asian culturally-sensitive:
- Day Respite Care and Development
- Home Respite Care
- Sports & Leisure
- Arts
- Volunteers
- Advice and Information
- International Disability Development
See our website www.apda.org.uk for more information.
Our charity needs donations so that it can continue its work, as well as expand and serve more people.
Donations will help us to run a wider range of services, help larger numbers of people, work in more countries and keep the Charity running.
You can donate as much or as little as you like, £50, £100, £150, £500.
Adding together all the donations we receive, £3,000 could allow us to run one year of health sessions for disabled people, £6,000 could allow our wheelchair dance group to expand and involve more disabled people in dance therapy, whereas £10,000 could allow us to start long-term breaks for elders.
In Puttalam, Sri Lanka, we are collaborating with a local school to provide education for disabled children. The local school is geographically located on an excessively steep hill, which disabled children with complex and multiple disabilities cannot access, so some parents are currently physically carrying them up the hill. Your donation could also help provide a suitable disabled accessible minibus for these disabled and deprived children, whose education is currently suffering. With a minibus, the opportunities for these children would be increased and the potential for the future quality of their lives vastly improved.
£35,000 to £40,000 would also allow us to build a centre for disabled people severely affected by disaster and conflict in India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan or Bangladesh.
So please dig deep and donate now.
