Now that everyone is marathoning in earnest, I usually make some wild claim that I can do something that seems more impressive because I’m jealous. One year I said I’d swim 10k, then next that I’d walk from Geneva to London (there was varying success).
However, all these claims for heroics were all in search of a goal that I was trying to achieve in a roundabout way. This year, I’m focusing on that instead; I want to lose 30 pounds by July 10 2009 and I’m asking you to sponsor me to do it. (13.61kgs)
It’s not complicated, you sponsor me an amount per pound – If I don’t lose 30 pounds I have to make up the difference! That’s the kind of incentive a girl understands. You can watch my progress on www.apoundforapound.com. There may even be video and blogs, but remember I am very good at promising but not too good at delivering (walk from Geneva to London? What was I thinking?)
The logical charity would be one that helps families and children who don’t have enough themselves -to balance my truffle pig gorging over the years. That’s why I’ve chosen ‘Aim for Change’ which helps with self sufficiency and education in rural areas, at present in and . They support a variety of projects including two orphanages; a school for street children and children from a refugee camp in northern Uganda. They have also provided approx. 45 animal projects and 4 water boreholes and piping for fresh water and sewerage.
