Hello,
My friend Gilly will be running a Jungfrau marathon in aid of Appeal4Jessica and I would like to ask you to kindly sponsor him.
Thank you Stana and Jessie
A Message from Gilly:
Running the Jungfrau this year for Jessie will be a walk in the park compared to the marathon she's been running most of her little life. Jessie is a pretty lively little 6 year-old girl with a smile that shines and a frown that leaves grown men quaking. She's brave and she's special.
You can read about Jessie here at www.appeal4jessica.co.uk, you can look at the pictures, read the new reports, learn about the pain and the trauma of a little girl who's fighting every day, and you can sponsor me, you can make a donation, you can make a difference.
I'm heading rapidly towards my (mumbles) 50th year, help make Jessie's day never mind her year. I spent over 20 years in the British Armed Forces. I've trained hard and played harder but Jessie's the toughest cookie I've ever met. :-)
She's an endurance expert, and fights like a trooper. She needs the money to help equip her with every opportunity open to her to help her win this battle.
I'll be running for Jessie, wearing number 3053, and ask you to keep me in your thought for those few hours on the 6th of September, and to keep Jessie in your thoughts every day as she runs her race.
Just incase you're still not convinced this is the Jungfrua Marathon official web page www.jungfrau-marathon.ch/ws/en/
Cheers Wayne (Gilly) Gilsenan
THE MARIA WATT BIRMINGHAM FOUNDATION FOR CHILDHOOD & TEENAGE LEUKAEMIA SUPPORTS THE APPEAL 4 JESSICA FUND
All proceeds collected from this appeal will be held by the Charity and will be donated to Jessica's Appeal.
When Jessica was was just 3 years old, her doctor noticed a slight heart murmur whilst she was visiting her grandparents in the Czech Republic. X-rays taken on her return to the UK revealed that although the murmur was innocent there was a large shadow visible behind her heart. Further tests revealed that this shadow was a very large tumour diagnosed as a Stage III Ganglioneuroblastoma, a malignant tumour that was taking up most of her chest and wrapping around her spine.
Jessica had 2 rounds of chemotherapy followed by 9 hours of surgery on the 8th March 2006 that removed just 25% of the tumour. A biopsy of the removed tumour showed more malignancy than first thought so a further 4 rounds of chemotherapy was ordered finishing in June 2006.
To date Jessica has received all the treatments available to her within the National Health Service, including life threatening chemotherapy and daily doses of medication. The family have managed to track down cutting edge treatments that are not available anywhere in Europe. The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York offers such techniques as Brainlab and antibody therapies that will be able to remove the leftovers of her original tumour and flush out the rest of the cancer from her body.
AS A SMALL CHARITY WE WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT JESSICA AND HER FAMILY BY HELPING TOWARDS THE COST OF THE TREATMENT SHE SO DESPERATELY NEEDS WHICH ISNT AVAILABLE HERE IN THE UK
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
