Archie was born very early at 25 weeks gestation. He spent 21 weeks in James Cook Neonatal unit. It was a very difficult time for all of our friends and family, but most of all for us as first time parents. Archie's dad had to return to work just a few weeks after he was born. I sent alot of time on my own with Archie and at times felt like I wasn't coping. Luckily for me our local bliss nurse was always there for me to talk to and more often than not a shoulder to cry on. The support we received through out our time in the unit and after discharge was amazing. We received flyers a dvd to help prepear us for Archie coming home on oxygen and advise and support on what the future may bring. If we could just help one family receive the support that we did then we know what a difference that help and support can make in a very scary, emotional, difficult and lonely time.
