The disabled outreach project set up by MSH and Awamaki in Ollantaytambo aims to help a number of disabled children and people in the sacred valley. The project aims to increase the level of medical and social care for the disabled children and to ease the strain on their families. This help ranges from providing nappies and wheelchairs to securing school places and sending volunteers on home visits.

As part of the disabled outreach campaign the charities working in this area have identified a number of children who have never been, or who cannot afford to consistently go to school. In nearby Urubamba is located the brilliant Arco Iris school funded by the British-Peruvian NGO Kiya Survivors. It is designed specifically for disabled children in the area and is happy to take on the students MSH and Awamaki have built relationships with. Therefore MSH have organised a private bus service for these children. They are now attending school and thriving in this environment. For example, Sayury a young girl with Cerebral Palsy has learnt that she can climb the slide on her own and Lourdes, a 19 year old girl with brittle bone disease has been given the chance to learn to read and write.

The bus service provides a life line for these children helping them to learn, socialize and make friends and giving them time away from home to gain independence. The school teaches life skills and more traditional lessons as well as offering a safe place to play, meals and vital services such as physiotherapy.
