Story
Our challenge will see us heading north to kayak 6 hours per day along the rugged coast of Norway.
The sea kayak will take place within the Arctic Circle and under 24hr daylight. Other locals within the region include the polar bear, the walrus and numerous whales and other "big scary things"! However, we are hoping that they are all willing to support our cause and encourage our team to make the distance needed each day to find a suitable camp site (ie. one on land!).
The team will be facing up to some of the strongest sea currents in the world, and the climate and environment that can only be thrown up by a challenge within the Arctic Circle.
As the first amateur team attempting the challenge, it would also be fair to say that nerves will play a part in the run up to the start, however, boot camp training as we prepare to burn 7,500 calories a day should ensure that we do not have too much time to worry!
Our team will be undertaking this challenge in July 2011 to help raise money for The Noah's Ark Appeal. The Noah's Ark Appeal exists to build, equip and further support the Children's Hospital for Wales.
