"Ben Up Ben Nevis" was a family event, organised

and undertaken by Liam Spear and friends in May 2010, to

raise money for Diabetes UK.

Liam was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2004 aged 8. He wanted to raise awareness of diabetes in young people, raise money and demonstrate how the condition can be managed when active in demanding sports.

Suffice to say, the Event was a great success.

The "Ben" in Ben Up Ben Nevis, was Liam's baby brother, who accompanied the Liam et al on the first Mountain - Ben Nevis.

We are planning our 2011 Event for Late August

The Lake District 3 Peaks Challenge ****

For this years event we intend raising money for two charities very close to our hearts.

Once again we wish to raise money for Diabetes UK. Liam, who will be 15 years old at the time of the event will have been diabetic for 7 years and is continuing his fund raising work for this charity, as it continues to work towards a cure for the condition, whilst offering vital support to those affected by Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. See his "About Diabetes" on www.benupbennevis.org.uk for more information.

Our second charity is Kings College Hospital.

King’s College Hospital provides a full range of high quality local hospital services to the people of South London. It also offers world-leading innovative specialist services including major breakthroughs in the treatment of liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, haemato-oncology and foetal medicine.

It is a Charity we are delighted to be involved with.
