Brighton Marathon 2010 · 18 April 2010 ·

We’re the charity that supports the remarkable staff and exceptional care at Guy’s and St Thomas’. Together, we’re striving to be one step ahead for patients, staff and communities.

Story

Dear family, friends, colleagues, randoms, anyone willing to give us money . . .

Well, why are we doing Brighton Marathon? I ask myself that same question everytime the alarm goes off at 8.00am on a Sunday morning when we've been out the night before and we're running from 9.00am 'til midday or longer! Well the short and simple answer is that we've been running together for over 3 years now and thought 'why not?', 'before we're thirty we should do this'. I personally think it's a bit of a mid-life crisis type decision, how else can I rationalise running 26.2 miles?!?

We also thought that St Guy's and St Tommy's Hospital would be a great charity to run for as we both have friends that work there and do a super job and I was also admitted there as a child.

The story so far? Well we've both racked up pretty impressive mileage, me - 16.5 miles, Arron 18 miles today! (I didn't run today, it was raining heavily so I decided to read a magazine in the gym ;)). We're doing a 20 mile run in a few weeks, we're being dropped off at Tottenham Hale and running back to Ware, Herts. I just hope those minging electrolyte gels keep us going (when I say 'we', I'm really talking about myself as I have nick-named Arron 'Skippy' as he is very enthusiastic and dedicated!).

Please sponsor generously so that we can think of all the money we have raised for those that need our help when we are finding it a little challenging!

Many thanks in advance,

Arron and Laura xxx
