A group of 10 of us will be climbing Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain standing 1,344m above sea level. We are doing this as celebration/challenge for John Boyle's 50th Birthday. John has had four hip replacements in the last 5 years, and has suffered from Chronic arthritis in the spine and neck since teenage years. This will be an achievement in itself to make the top, but we would like to raise some money for the Childrens Chronic Arthritis Association on our way.

Please give what you can.

Arthritis is not just a disease of old people.
Unfortunately about one in a thousand children in the United Kingdom suffer from Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA).

It can strike at any age, and take one of several forms, but what is similar about the disease, is the pain and frustration that affects the child, and the feeling of disbelief that affects the whole family.

Arthritis in children often involves the joints of the hands and feet and produces pain, swelling and stiffness of the joints. In addition the flexor tendons of the hand may also become inflamed. Involvement of the lower limbs often results in difficulty in walking while involvement of the wrists and hands may lead to difficulties in writing and manipulative tasks. Commonly, children feel generally unwell and may have fevers when the disease is active. In addition anti-inflammatory drug injections directly into affected joints, disease modifying or immunosuppressive drugs are usually required to prevent serious joint damage in polyarticular disease.

A BIG THANKYOU TO SSL INTERNATIONAL WHO HAVE OFFERED TO MATCH WHAT WE RAISE*.
