Claire's Firewalk

Firewalk · 30 April 2014
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Osteoarthritis affects an estimated 8.5 million people in the UK. In people affected by osteoarthritis, the cartilage (connective tissue) between their bones gradually wastes away, leading to painful rubbing of bone on bone in the joints. The most frequently affected joints are in the hands, spine, knees and hips.
Osteoarthritis can develop at any age as a result of an injury or another joint-related condition. It can cause severe pain, often described as burning. In order to raise money for Arthritis Research UK as well as awareness of a very painful and debilitating disease, we decided to organise a Fire walk. This event will take place at The Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry, Shropshire on the evening of the 30th April 2014. Participants will include Surgeons and scientists committed to finding a successful therapy for this disease.
