I have set this page up for anybody wishing to donate to 'Gingerbread' in memory of my Dad, Arthur Dent, who sadly passed away on the 9th Sept 2009.
Following the unexpected loss of my Mum 11 years ago, my Dad was contacted by Gingerbread, who are a charity which help lone parent families. We attended a local meeting the following Saturday. The time we spent at these meetings allowed my Dad to meet many new friends who had similar experiences. The groups allowed members to share experiences and offer each other advice over a coffee, whilst giving the children a chance to use the hall and sports equipment for games etc.
The group was often provided with free tickets to attractions such as Chessington world of adventures, Birdworld, Legoland and many more. And as the group grew, Dad often provided a chauffer service with his black taxi to save the group the costs of hiring an additional minibus. I think he might have once regretted this decision when the trip was to Woburn animal safari park.... The monkeys had a ball pulling the rubber seals off the rear lights of the cab, and one of his hub caps flew off and rolled down a slope.... chased by lions!
I know that my Dad was very fond of Gingerbread and of all the friends he made there, and that he very much appreciated the support which was offered to him at such a difficult time. I feel he would be very happy for us to make this gesture in his memory.
