OK - I did it. I don't know quite how, but I managed it. It was a bit like cycling in a sauna - 35C (90F) and high humidity, but the experience was well worth it. All the months of training paid off - although it was definitely exhausting, cycling over 500km in 6 days. I've definitely earned your donations - in fact if I'd known how tough it was going to be, I'd have tried to get you to double what you've kindly given already.
And I guess it's not too late. Even though the ride is over, I still need to collect the full sum promised. Every penny donated will go to Norwood.
Norwood is a great charity helping both children and adults with severe learning disabilities, and their families live active and fulfilling lives. Norwood also supports people with social difficulties - including drug dependency, family break-up, and so on, cope. It works with children in problem situations - orphans, bullying, abuse, etc. grow to become happy and productive adults. Norwood's patron is Her Majesty The Queen. It is also my local charity - they are based 10 minutes walk away from me.
I still need to raise money to reach my target. The total promised is £2750. That's 75 people donating £40 - less than the price of a meal for two in a reasonable restaurant.
