Earthwatch is an international environmental charity which supports around 90 scientific field research projects in 30 countries. Earthwatch’s research is vital as good conservation is most effective when founded upon good science. We also work with people worldwide, aiming to inspire, educate and engage them in conservation - creating a global community of informed, impassioned people to take action to protect the environment. Earthwatch is the working name for Conservation Education and Research Trust (CERT).

My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page you generous, beautiful, wonderful people!!!!

Global warming is most dramatically visible at the edge of the Arctic, where peat lands run in a broad strip around the globe. These wetlands contain as much as 20% of the world’s carbon, usually locked in permafrost. But as the permafrost thaws, carbon dioxide and methane — the most pernicious greenhouse gases — may be released, which in turn could increase the rate of global warming, with devastating implications for the planet. What happens to the peat here will not only alter the local ecosystem, but also the entire biosphere. I'll be helping Dr. Peter Kershaw and colleagues monitor ecosystem responses and gathering data on the potential impacts of this phenomenon — before it’s too late.

Here's on of 2 ways you can help me raise some cash.:

1. I've signed up for the Great North Run. It's no Flora London marathon but it is a gruelling 13.5 miles which I have committed myself to completing, my only other race, EVER, being a 5k run. Please Sponsor Me or....

2. As an alternative/in addition to a generous donation for the run I'm also offering up my services for money. Nothing sordid mind you, i'm talking house cleaning, car washing, dog walking, Ironing, chief cook and bottle washer, golf caddy stuff like that. I'm willing to do almost anything. Please Hire Me!!!
