Our Mission is to ensure a world in which the language, culture, community, diversity & heritage of Deaf people in the UK is respected & fully protected, ensuring that Deaf people can participate & contribute as equal & valued citizens in the wider society. We also aim to act as champions of BSL.

Story

<p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">I am going to fundraise for BDA by running BUPA London 10,000KM run, Firstly I'll tell you a little about myself before explaining bit more about BDA.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">As you all can gather, my name is Asher, I always have dreamt of running London marathon, however I see this as an excellent opportunity for me to start off my dream and learn about fundraising as I plan to raise a large amount for London Marathon one day!</span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>I have also decide to liven the things up and I willbe running in fancy dress- Please vote one from the list below by posting a comment after donating.</p> <p><strong>Green Latern or Superman or Where is Wally or Basketball Star or 118 118 Guy</strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><span style="font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">BDA is the largest deaf organisation run by deaf people, they represent the deaf community and they are strong&nbsp;advocates of British Sign Language and they are determined to preserve our proud deaf community and identity.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">They do very valuable and tireless work in campaigning on various issues regarding the deaf community such as preserving deaf clubs, raising awareness of the issues facing deaf people, better opportunities in work and bi-lingual education for deaf people, developing sign language courses and legal frameworks for the deaf people as well improving the communication and accessibility for the deaf. All of this is done to ensure deaf people can be equal to their hearing peers, contribute to the society and lead a fulfilling and independent life.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">In a nutshell, BDA is the heartbeat of Deaf Community and we all need to pitch in to keep it beating the deaf heart for us and fight for us, the deaf people!&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 11.5pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Any contributions, pounds or pennies will be warmly appreciated.
