Story

Ian Liddiatt works at Ashgrove School, the only specialist school in Wales catering for children and young adults with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. Ian wants to raise £2,000 to buy specially adapted trikes so that all  our pupils get the opportunity to take part in adventurous outdoor activities and learn road safety skills no matter what their ability.

The full cost of Ian's trip is being met by our sponsor, Education Staffing Solutions, so the amount displayed here -  the amount you generously pledge to donate - is all going to buy trikes for our pupils.

Hi All,

On Tuesday 22nd of May I will be leaving Ashgrove School in Penarth and making my way to the Eiffel Tower, Paris in 2 days.

Most people do this by car or plane........but not me!! I will be cycling (yes, cycling) the whole way ........ a total distance of 300 miles, 14 hours in the saddle, 72,000 pedal revolutions (yes I have worked it out!!), and 15,000 calories (yep.....fifteen thousand).

I will leave the school gates around 9.30am on 22nd May, ride through Cardiff, Newport, across the first Severn Crossing, through Bristol, Bath, Salisbury, Southampton and onto the overnight ferry at Portsmouth to Le Havre.

Then the next morning (23rd May) I will depart Le Havre, cycle through Lillebonne, past Rouen, and follow the river Seine, past Vernon, Mantes, Nanterre, cycle into Paris and meet Ashgrove pupils underneath the Eiffel Tower hopefully arriving between 6-7pm.

I am raising funds to purchase specially adapted bikes so the whole school can join our Bike Club.

This is where you all come in. Please, please, please sponsor me, get your family to sponsor me, get your friends to sponsor me. It doesn't have to be much. A little from a lot of you will mean a huge amount to our pupils.

I seriously can't do this without your help and support (and as you will probably agree I have definitely got the hardest bit......especially if the weather is as bad as it has been for the last few weeks).

Thank you for reading this. Any support and sponsorship you could provide would be really appreciated.

Cheers,

Ian
