Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

At Activity Alliance, we believe that everyone belongs in sport and physical activity. Yet, disabled people remain the least active in our society. Our strategy, We All Belong, drives meaningful change by tackling the biggest challenges disabled people face when trying to be active in sport.

Story

Dear all,

In a moment of madness last week I decided to run the London marathon. I still haven't quite decided whether it was a good idea - most people are teling me it's a ridiculous one -  but either way I'm now signed up and ready to take on the challenge!

I'm running for a special charity called Disability Sport Events, which creates participation opportunities for disabled people in a wide variety of sports, from basic beginner level through to international standard level. Given how much enjoyment I have had from sport over the years (the marathon may be an exception to that...), it means a lot to me to be raising money to help other people have the chance to do the same.

DSE is a relatively small charity and rely heavily on the money they raise from the London marathon each year. I hope to raise as much money as possible to support their valuable work. For more information on the work they do, see http://www.disabilitysport.org.uk/.

Anything you'd like to donate, however small, will be much appreciated.

Many thanks for your support.
Ashley
