Story

Dear Friends and St.Luke Hospice Supporters ,

Good news , Ive successfully walked the Cumbria Way  : all 72 miles in 4 full days !

I appreciate the time you have taken out of your busy schedule for this good cause This website will allow you to sponsor me online ( could not be more simple !)

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Luke's Hospice (Kenton Grange) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you, so please do not forget to 'tick' the box !

No sum is too small, though £5 and above is preferred (they told me to be cheeky and polite !) as all the money WE raise will go to the charity . Here is a short summary of our journey :

Thursday 1 May : 12.7 miles Ulverston to Torver

Started the day very early  to get to Euston for 06:46 hr train,  big thank-you to Chris (Frances' husband) for driving us there !

Friday 2 May :14.6 miles Sunny Bank to New Dungeon Ghyll

Saturday 3 May :15.6 miles New Dungeon Ghyll to Keswick, which is  the best section of the Cumbria Way.

Sunday 4 May : 17.5 miles Keswick to Caldbeck ,the longest walk

Monday 5 May: 9.8 miles Caldbeck to Dalston; Reached Dalston Green and the finishing line!

A celebratory drink  in the Bluebell Inn before getting the coach to Newcastle and the 15:55 train to Kings Cross arriving at 19:10hr . Taxi toWaterloowith Frances , and then the 20:05 train to Martins Heron .   Chris , Frances and Amy reached me back home , thanks !

I still do not believe that I’ve successfully completed the challenge , its most definitely the friendly  company that made it possible ( not to mention the crazy girls of room #307) , along with the exceptionally well behaved weather.

Also a big thank-you to the numerous organisers who worked together to plan and execute such an awesome fund-raising event .
