October 5th sees Paul and Robert Palmer embark on a 500 mile trip on their bikes to help raise much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Setting out from Aspley Guise, the pair plan to cover the entire distance in just 5 gruelling days. The route sees them travel up to the Snowdonia National Park, then heading down through Wales, before turning east and back home via the Malvern Hills and the Cotwolds. It culminates on their arrival back in Aspley Guise on Sunday 9th October.....they hope!

Good friend and fellow cyclist, Ben Woodall joins the team on day 4 in deepest Wales to cycle the tough 200 miles back home. And a fourth member of the team, Simon Lowings is also participating in the challenge, joining the other riders in Tewkesbury for the final 75 mile push back home on the last day. With little cycling of note over recent years this is no small challenge for Simon, as he'll test himself over difficult terrain to reach the end point of the trip.

It's a sad fact that so many of us are affected by cancer throughout our lives.

There are more than 200 types of cancer, each with different causes, symptoms and treatments. There are around 289,000 new cases of cancer diagnosed each year in the UK. Every two minutes someone else is diagnosed with cancer in the UK. More than 1 in 3 people will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. Breast, lung, bowel and prostate cancers together account for over half of all new cancers each year.

All the riders on this challenge have been touched by cancer through family or loved ones in recent times, and this ride is our tiny way of trying to help.
