My story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

JULY UPDATE: I attended my second car boot sale and raised £110.50!

JUNE UPDATE:  My training is going well and I can now keep up a good pace on a three hour walk which is a big improvement! This week i need to raise the bar to do a four hour walk and continue to increase the lengths of my walks so that by September i will hopefully be completing 8 hour walks.I had my first car boot sale made up of items from my own home and donated items and raised £89 as well as a further £43 from items i sold before i even made it to the boot sale. So i would like to give a massive thank you to the families that donated their belongings!

APRIL UPDATE: I held my fundraising event 'Wig a Kebab Man' and raised £216 with the help of the staff of Delights Kebab House and their generous customers.

I first heard of charity challenges like the trek in Peru about 4 years ago and wanted to do one immediately. I have requested the forms several times but had always let something put me off actually applying until now. For the first time in a long while I feel that the year ahead of me is an open book and I want to do something great with it. What better than raising some serious money for one of the world's best charities - Amnesty International.

This trek is one of several treks and cycling challenges organised by Amnesty and my participation will help me raise awarness about Amnesty as well as more money for them than i could ever give all by myself.
The target above of 2850 pounds is the minimum sponsorship required by Amnesty, part of which will pay for my trek (they won't know the exact figure until everything is booked but i know that more than half of the money will go directly to Amnesty), but obviously I'd like to raise as much as possible for this great cause and help Amnesty to keep promoting and protecting human rights.

After acclimatising to the altitude I will be trekking for at least 26hrs over 4 days up and down mountains in the Lares region of Peru up to heights of 4400m. This is rather a daunting prospect for me as my exercise regime over the last few years could be described as sporadic at best! Your support will keep me motivated during training and on the actual trek so get donating now!

And remember, I will be leaving for Peru on the day after my birthday and all those who give generously will be immune to birthday pestering!

Thanks for helping,

Asri xx
