                                                                  WOODVALE CHALLENGE 2011

In December 2011 Darren Hutchins and Pete Bates are taking on the challenge of rowing across the Atlantic Ocean in the Woodvale Atlantic Rowing Race. The race starts from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to the island of Antigua in the Caribbean. Between these two ports lay 2,500 Nautical Miles (2,877 statute miles) of unpredictable Ocean.

The crossing will take anything from 50 to 80 days and teams from all over the world will be aiming to win the race, break numerous records and survive the extremely long and dangerous crossing. Mental and physical preparation is important to face what every day will throw at the boat and crew such as whales, sharks, poor weather conditions and rogue waves.

As well as achieving personal goals, dreams, racing and pushing ourselves to the limits of human endurance we will be aiming to raise £50,000, and hopefully more in support of Help for Heroes.

We want to exceed this target and set new targets regularly in support of our brave servicemen and women.
