Story

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I completed the Hebridean 2 Marathon Challenge which took place on the isles of Lewis and Harris between the 24th May and 26th May 2008, running 2 full marathons. The first was the Point 1 Callanish Stones Marathon and took place on Lewis on Saturday 24th May; and the second, was the North Harris Trust Marathon which was on Harris on Monday 26th May.

I participated in this event in the memory of a friend, Rhona MacLennan, who sadly lost her battle with cancer at the beginning of February. Rhona, and her partner James, received support from Macmillan Cancer Support during her illness, and it seemed appropriate that we raise money for Macmillan through this event.

We have arranged that all funds raised are directed to a Macmillan Cancer Support fundraising project in Lanarkshire to provide a specialist pharmacist.

Now, to confirm:

Yes, this was 2 full marathons, 52.4 miles in 3 days!

My finishing times were 4.40.48 for Callanish and 4.38.51 for Harris

It was an amazing experience

Both courses were stunningly beautiful if challenging, between the 14 miles of NE headwind for Callanish; and the hills of Harris

The sun shone for 3 days in the Outer Hebrides

The Atlantic was freezing

My fellow runners gave huge support and encouragement

James was a great support team to not only me but some of the other runners too, and is now officially a runners 'groupie'

I seemed to have trained enough, could still move for the 2nd one, and can still move 2 days after - just

When I started I looked like this

When I finished I definitely looked like this

Closely followed by this

AND, YES, THIS IS A GREAT CAUSE

So please sponsor me now!

Many, many thanks for your support.

Love Audrey
