About our charity : Hope and Homes for Children Hope and Homes for Children
Hope and Homes for Children’s mission is to give hope to the poorest children in the world – those who are orphaned, abandoned or vulnerable – by enabling them to grow up within the love of a family and the security of a home, so they can fulfil their potential. In Central and Eastern Europe, we close orphanages and move children into family-based care whilst developing the services needed to help prevent child abandonment. In Africa, we provide a vital lifeline for families at risk of breakdown due to the pressures of poverty, disease or conflict. We believe that, above all else, every child should live within a loving family environment.

Our personal message:

Paul, Jonathan, Toby, Robert and Zoe are taking part inthe Mongol Rally 2008. A charity driving adventure covering 10,000 miles in 4 weeks from Hyde Park, London to Ulaan Baatar, the capital city of Mongolia. No support crew. No fancy 4x4 jeeps. The rules state that you must drive a wholly unsuitable vehicle, ideally bought from a scrapyard for about 20 quid with a pathetically small engine.

For our trusty steeds we have chosen a pair of Austin Maestros... the car that was the zenith of British automotive technology back in the 1970’s.  No power, no style and no reliability - ideal for traveling a third of the way round the earth.

We are hoping to raise nearly £3000 for Mercy Corps, Hope and Homes for Children, and Great Ormond St. Hospital. All the money you donate will go direct to these Charities! For all the details of our Charities, and up to date news of our adventure - check out www.austinpowered.co.uk

Many thanks - Team AustinPowered.
