The MdS is....a 151 mile endurance race across the Sahara desert in 6 days, carrying all my equipment and food. My backpack will weigh around 10 kilos and the temperature will reach 45ºC. I will be provided with 9 litres of water a day distributed at checkpoints along the route and will sleep in Berber tents. I will be one of 750 competitors, and one of only 100 women who attempt this annual race. It is billed as the ‘toughest footrace on earth’.
I'm running this to raise as much as I can for FARM-Africa. There's a brief description of the work they do to the left of this mesage so I won't add my own summary. Suffice it to say, they're a fantastic charity doing valuable work across Africa.
For more information on the work they do please see their website: www.farmafrica.org.uk
