I am delighted to tell you that I am running the Marathon for Emunah on Sunday, 26th April 2009. Emunah in Britain is part of World Emunah with 180,000 members in 30 countries. Emunah is one of the primary social welfare organisations in Israel. Emunah builds and maintains day care centres, kindergartens, vocational training schools and residential homes for underprivileged children in Israel. Their community centres are used for occupational therapy, social welfare programmes and after school activities for children. They transform the lives of thousands of disadvantaged youngsters, many of whom arrive at Emunah centres disturbed, neglected and victims of abuse. They leave well-adjusted and equipped to lead normal lives as useful and successful members of society. Funds from this year's Marathon will be used to provide a daily meal for children at two of their special schools and if necessary a food parcel to take home to their families. Hundreds of children turn up at their schools and centres every day...hungry. Their families are too poor to feed them properly and too ashamed to ask for help. This year Emunah in Britain is committed to raising £58,000 to make sure that our children concentrate on their studies rather than their hunger.
