On the 20th June 2007, Ali, Javaid and Shoket from Awaz FM will be taking on the challenge of hiking to the top of
Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Revive
(MS Charity).
At 5,895m,
Mt.
Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes ever to break through the Earth's crust.
The Awaz FM team’s challenge is to reach its summit. Our 12 day challenge trek starts in the rainforests of Lemosho Glades and heads upwards through dense jungle to the Shira Plateau where we acclimatise, (altitude sickness is common)
From here we should catch a glimpse of our goal Kibo, Kilimanjaro's main ice-capped peak. We will continue via the Southern Flank, Barranco Wall and Barafu Route to the summit. During the day, temperatures will rise to a warm 30 C but dropping at night to a chilly -15C.
Don't underestimate this challenge. Most trekkers will never have experienced a trek like this. Summit Day is as tough as it gets, with 1,000m of ascent and over 2,000m of descent.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Revive Scotland (MS) will receive your money faster and, if you are a
taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Please give generously and support Ali, Shoket & Javaid on this charity trek.
