Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This page was created because I felt that I might be able to turn my wish to save Stargate Universe into something that could help realise the wishes of others. The show is now gone but I'm keeping up my efforts to raise some money to help The Make-A-Wish Foundation achieve its goal of realising the wishes and dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses.

 

Any disappointment I felt at the loss of one of my favorite televison shows pales in comparison with the stress and sorrow terminally ill children and their families must feel when they consider the magnitude of their situation. I'm a parent myself but I wouldn't claim to understand what they must go through.

 

I have set a target of raising the modest amount of $500 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I hope you will consider donating £2.00 (the minumum donation allowed) to my cause. It would only take 250 people to donate that amount to achieve my goal.

 

Why did I pick a British site when I live in Canada, you may ask. This was the only fund-raising site I could find with a minumum donation as low as £2.00 (equivalent to about $3.20 in US or Australian currency or CA$3.15) and the 6.3% fees charged on each donation are reasonable (if you are a UK resident, JustGiving.com will add back some money as GiftAid). Facebook's Causes app has lower fees but a minumum donation of $10. I'm not willing to ask people to give that much.
