Nyumba Ya Thanzi - The House of Good Health - is a UK based charitable trust working in Malawi to support locally designed development initiatives. Nyumba supports a centre in Senga Bay, Malawi which ensures that HIV+ children have access to nutritious meals, education and healthcare. .

Story

I know I and probably a lot of other people keep asking you to sponsor me/them but please read on… and it’s my last sponsored event this year, I promise (well, I think!)

NYUMBA YA THANZI SUPPORTS CHILANGA SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND

Chilanga School in Kasungu, Central Malawi, is a boarding school that caters specifically to the needs of blind children. In 2005 two Nyumba trustees went to visit the school and they were impressed by the dedication of the staff working with extremely limited resources to give these children a fighting chance.

The school urgently needs braille books for all 100 children in years 1 - 8 in the subjects of English, Maths and Chichewa.  The books can be made in Malawi but the production cost is far beyond the means of this school, which struggles determinedly to be self-sufficient. We therefore, we need to raise £12,000 in order to buy these books on their behalf. This will cover the manufacturing costs and transportation to the school.

You’re always so generous in your support and donations - I would be very grateful if you would sponsor me for this event.

 Love, Ayisha x
