My name is Ayla, I'm from London and I'm going to be involved in a charity bike ride.
I'll be cycling in Ethopia for 6 days (starting from the 26th October 2007), completing a total of 320km (200 miles) at very high altitude (2000 - 3000 metres). I'll be with a group of like-minded fundraisers who all feel very passionate about the charity we're raising money for.
It's called Maternity Worldwide. They're a charity dedicated to saving lives in childbirth. Setup in 2002, their main aim is to help reduce maternal deaths in developing countries by providing quality maternal health services to those communities most in need. There's a shocking statistic that 1 in 16 women in Africa die in childbirth. Compared to the UK where it's 1 in 16,000.
The money we raise will help towards equipment, personnel and education.
Simply go to http://www.maternityworldwide.org
You can donate money! Any amount will do. The more the better. But I appreciate the time you've spent already looking at this. You can use all major credit cards and if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thanks for all yr support Ayla
