I will start the beginning! Our son Maxwell (Max) was born 22nd </pre> <pre>march 2011 4 weeks premature after a long and difficult pregnancy He was admitted straight away to the special care baby units ICU </pre> <pre>department were he remained fighting for his breathing difficulties </pre> <pre>for 5 days before been transferred to the special care baby unit for </pre> <pre>a further 5 days he was then happily all in the clear and was allowed </pre> <pre>home to us and his 2 brothers Ethan aged 3 and Luke aged 2. </pre> <pre> From birth max has suffered with reflux our health visitor and DR </pre> <pre>advised turning his head and keeping him raised up to help/stop him</pre> <pre> been sick luckily this reflux seems to be calming Down now he is </pre> <pre>on a special baby milk. At around 5 weeks we started to notice a slight flattening of the right</pre> <pre> side of max's head we asked for this to be checked at his 6 week </pre> <pre>check and the DR dismissed our concerns just saying he had </pre> <pre>seem worse and give it time! </pre> <pre>Since then despite repositioning and lots of tummy time max's head </pre> <pre>has become worse now even his right ear seems to have been </pre> <pre>pushed put of alinement </pre> <pre>This situation is worrying us so much That after visiting Dr's max </pre> <pre>has been diagnosed with severe plagiocephaly and brachycephaly </pre> <pre>which is a severe flattening to the skull the only option now after </pre> <pre>months of repositioning is the helmet treatment. </pre> <pre>The helmet treatment involves using a scan of the babies head to </pre> <pre>construct a helmet which will be worn for 23 hours per day for 3 to 6 </pre> <pre>months this will realign the skull over time </pre> <pre>The treatment is so expensive at approx £2000 but we are willing to </pre> <pre>do anything to help our baby. </pre> <pre>unfortunately we just don't have that sort of money and like most </pre> <pre>things it will take quite a while to save that amount and time is </pre> <pre>something we do not have max is at the optimum age for treatment </pre> <pre>and the younger he is the less time he should have to wear the </pre> <pre>helmet! </pre> <pre>Our goal is to raise the £2000 for max's treatment we would ask </pre> <pre>anyone who would Like to help no matter what the amount really </pre> <pre>EVERY penny helps to donate to max's Justgiving page </pre> <pre>ALL donations go direct to headstart4babies the charity for children </pre> <pre>with these conditions the charity in turn will use the donations under </pre> <pre>max's name to pay his treatment bill Please forward his page info to anyone and everyone you can by </pre> <pre>word of mouth or social networking we have also designed some </pre> <pre>posters if you have anywhere to display them!?
