Story
"Shoot us if we mention doing it again!" we said … Well, we're doing it again and we would ask that you hold your fire.
Nothing can prepare you for the amazing experience of running the London Marathon! Five of us have now experienced it at least once and it's something we all want to be part of again. So we’ve roped in newcomers Tim, Dean, Ivana, Sarah and Gareth and as a team of 10, representing the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK, we are again running in the full 1966 World Cup Final kit, carrying on our shoulders a 5 foot replica of Nike of Samothrace - the Jules Rimet trophy to you and me. We didn't break any records for finishing times last time (although we did beat Lorraine Kelly in a sprint finish!), but we did complete the whole course together, as a team, raising valuable money to fund research into bowel cancer.
We’re running as our own tribute to Bobby Moore, and it’s particularly special to us this year, as it’s the 40th anniversary of Bobby's finest sporting hour. Although we’re running in England kit, cancer is not just an English disease, so please don't let your own sporting or national allegiances prevent you from supporting us.
Each of us needs to raise a minimum of £1966, but we’re also hoping to exceed a combined group total of £19660.00. So, if you have any fundraising ideas or tips, please let us know.
If you would like to sponsor us, please sponsor us online here, as this is the most efficient way for us to raise funds for our charity. If you are a UK taxpayer, your donation will be increased by almost a third at no cost to you. If you think anyone you know has too much spare cash (particularly your boss, your in-laws or your ex), please let them know what we're doing. You will help increase our total whilst having the added pleasure of seeing them part with some money!
We really appreciate your donation. Any amount will make a difference, but please try to give generously, and remember to leave us your personal message of support when you complete the form. And if you’re in London on 23rd April, please cheer us on!
Thanks! Gav and “Team '66”
