VCMF 5k/10k Backyard challenge · 25 April 2020

In later life older people may find themselves lonely or isolated, particularly if struggling with poor health or mobility and bereavement. We provide a range of vital services to include information and advice, practical support and opportunities to socialise. We support independence and provide help to enable people to remain living safely in their own home. Our mission is to promote the well-being of all older people and to help make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience. Your donation will help us to provide direct help to improve the quality of later life. Story

Hi everyone,

A slight change from the normal fundraising of the Veronica Claxton Memorial Fund but after watching on in awe of Captain Tom Moore and his magnificent challenge in his garden at the grand old age of 99 we wanted to do our little bit and what better way of honouring him during these troubled times by supporting AGE UK and their work in our local area in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

On Saturday April 25th a load of us will be congregating in our gardens or small green space nearby and running or walking a 5k or 10k in our gardens, to put this into context, a 10k over a 25 metre course in your garden is going to require 400 laps!

Everyone and anyone is welcome to get involved, all we ask is you put a donation on here (minimum £5) and try and rally a few friends and family to support you. Take a few pics and let’s get them shared out on social media. Fancy dress is of course very much encouraged!

At a time when some charities are needed more than ever the vast majority are facing a cut in income of around 70% so resources are hugely stretched so we hope whatever we can get together here can help the fantastic work AGE UK do in supporting the elderly and vulnerable in our area especially at a time when so many have been cut adrift from their families.

Please get involved or support us with a little donation!

As always it is hugely appreciated

Best wishes

Luke Claxton
