DebRA 3 Peaks Challenge · 11 June 2008

DEBRA is the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) – a painful genetic skin blistering condition which, in the worst cases, can be fatal. We fund pioneering research and provide care and support to individuals and families living with EB.

Story

We did it!!

On the 30th of August 2008 at 16:20pm, not knowing what lay ahead of them, six intrepid staff of Manchester-based Baines & Ernst set out on a lengthy journey across ’s three highest peaks to raise funds for charity.

The team of senior managers swapped the comforts of the office to take on the challenge of climbing Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis andSnowdonall within 24 hours. As well as climbing over 3,400 metres (11,172 feet) and walking a total of 26 miles, the team also had to travel more than 460 miles by road against the clock.

Cloudy conditions and the need to keep up the pace meant there was little chance to enjoy the views. But it paid off as the Baines & Ernst team was only one of three teams to have crossed the line in within the limit, posting an overall time of 23 hours and 33 minutes.
