Story

*** WILL YOU START THE FANS, PLEASE!!! ***

I would like to thank everyone who has supported and sponsored me during my 12-month beard grow.

The final total raised was £3440.92 (£320 of which was raised solely for shaving my head and eyebrows!).

Apologies this update is late!

Once again, thank you to everyone for your support,

Steve.

*** UPDATE: 11 AND A HALF MONTHS ***

THIS IS IT!  My last update before the big shave on the 29th November, 2014.  Thank you so, so much to everyone who has donated - and, if you can't make it to the CF Charity Night at the Longlands Club, Middlesbrough - please, please make a last-minute donation to support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

My challenge is almost over - but, like my t-shirt says, Cystic Fibrosis is a lifelong challenge... so please help us to find a cure and ensure everyone with CF has the healthiest, happiest, longest life possible.

Thank you for all your support - I'll post some pics of the big shave in early December!

Steve.

*** UPDATE: 10 MONTHS ***

Only 2 months to go until the Big Shave Charity Night at 19:00 on Saturday 29th November, 2014 (The Longlands Club, 299 Marton Rd, Middlesbrough, Cleveland, TS4 2HF).

If anyone has any unwanted gifts or items they would be willing to donate as raffle/tombola prizes please get in touch as they would be very much appreciated!

Also, look out for me in the Gazette over the next couple of days - they covered Cheryl's Head-Shave and now they've been round to take a few pictures to raise more awareness for the CF Trust.  The more people who are aware of Cystic Fibrosis then the more support the Charity will receive - so please watch and share Lucy's new YouTube video:

Thanks everyone,

Steve.

*** UPDATE: 9 MONTHS ***

Only 3 months to go!!!

Date and location now confirmed for the big shave:  19:00 on Saturday 29th November, 2014 (The Longlands Club, 299 Marton Rd, Middlesbrough, Cleveland, TS4 2HF).

Raffle, tombola, bingo, karaoke, music, dancing, cake... oh yeah, and my chin!  All proceeds going to the CF Trust - so please come along if you can... all welcome!

Please keep the donations coming - I'm very grateful to everyone who has donated so far (especially those who are following my progress every month and repeat donating!).  Every little helps and it's all very much appreciated.

Thanks everyone,

Steve.

*** UPDATE: 8 MONTHS ***

Pirate Day at Redcar Races!  (oo-arrr!)

My beard is now long enough to plait!  Thanks to my wife, Cheryl, for her handy-work - and to Lucy for the use of the Loom Bands to keep it in place!  :-)

I'm worried that my beard may have stopped growing with only 4-months to go... so if anyone has any suggestions on how I can measure it (or what you'd like to see as a photo update) then please let me know!!!

Please keep the donations coming - I'm very grateful to everyone who has donated so far (especially those who are following my progress every month and repeat donating!).  Every little helps and it's all very much appreciated.

Thanks everyone,

Steve (The Dread Pirate Redbeard).

*** UPDATE: 7 (AND A HALF) MONTHS ***

Apologies this has taken so long!  Work and life have been manic and just haven't had the time to write an update... nothing interesting has happened anyway - except I think my beard may have gotten EVEN more ginger!  *GULP*

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far - could really do with something nice to keep my mind off work... so please keep the donations coming in!  :-D

Cheers,

Steve.

*** COME ON ENGLAND!!! ***

This is it - I'm half-way through... just 6 LONG months to go!!!

England start their campaign in the World Cup tonight against Italy - so have uploaded a patriotic photo to get us all going... please donate!!!

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far - very much appreciated... please keep the donations coming!

Steve.

*** UPDATE: 5 MONTHS ***

My beard is so ginger it now glows in the dark!

I've also somehow managed to be involved with my old employer's current marketing campaign (Flack Safety Services) - so look-out for me and my beard on ITV1!

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far - very much appreciated... please keep the donations coming!

Steve.

*** UPDATE: 4 MONTHS ***

Sorry it's taken me so long to post another update - I've now been growing my beard for 4 months... and it's just like part of the family now!  I'm sort-of "used" to it now... and if it wasn't for the photo updates I wouldn't realise how much it's actually grown!

All I seem to do all day every day is eat my mustache - so I try to wax it whenever I can to keep it away from my top lip... which gets me some very strange looks while walking down the street!

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far - very much appreciated,

Steve.

*** UPDATE: 2 MONTHS ***

Well it's been 2 months now and quite frankly I look ridiculous! I am not looking forward to the next 10!

I almost had a disaster whereby I needed to renew my Driving License photo ID - but (un)fortunately the DVLA used my current passport photo instead! That could have been embarrassing (would have made for a good update though!)

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far - very much appreciated,

Steve.

*****

My wife's challenged me to grow my beard, for 1 year, to raise money for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

My 7 year-old Step-Daughter, Lucy, has Cystic Fibrosis - and we'll do anything we can to raise money towards finding a cure - and also raise awareness for the condition.

I haven't trimmed my beard since our Wedding Day (30/Nov/2013) - and the aim is to let it grow for as long as donations keep flooding-in (up until our First Year Anniversary on 30/Nov/2014).

The Rules:

1)  I am not allowed to cut/trim my facial hair whatsoever;

2)  I am allowed to style the monstrosity using wax, etc;

3)  I am allowed to get my hair cut;

4)  I will continue to grow my beard until either 30/Nov/2014, or until donations stop;

I have consent from my Boss at work, so all that should stop me now is lack of Sponsors!  At writing this I have been growing my beard for 43 days (photos attached) - and I have hit the "incessant itchy stage" TWICE now!  It may sound lazy - not shaving, but it isn't a walk in the park!

So far, I have noticed...

Things I can't do:

1)  Eat soup;

2)  Talk without spitting food during meal times;

3)  Attract women other than my wife (not that I've tried!);

Things I can do:

1)  Scare small children;

2)  Look ridiculous at work during meetings with Management/Clients;

So if you'd like to raise some money for a good cause (and cause me some grief in the process!) please give generously.

Many thanks,

Steve.
