Story
Balloon Race
Our balloon race is a charitable event to raise money on behalf of The Prince’s Trust by selling tickets for the race. Tickets cost a very reasonable £2 (or 3 for £5 or 7 for £10), for which you will have a chance of winning one of three brilliant prizes.
- A hot air balloon ride for 2.
- A Nintendo Wii (the must have games console).
- £100 cash – treat yourself to a meal out on us!
The prizes will be awarded to the three balloon tickets returned to us having travelled the furthest distance from the launch venue.
If you would just like to make a donation, please feel free! If you want to contact us please email balloonlaunch@hotmail.co.uk. If you are buying balloon tickets, do not include gift aid as this does not qualify. If you are just making a donation, please do include gift aid as the charity will get an extra 28%!!
The event will take place on the evening of our summer ball on 18th July 2008 at the Albright Hussey Manor Hotel in Shrewsbury. All tickets found and returned to us by 8th August 2008 will be eligible for one of our prizes. The person who returns the winning ticket (the furthest distance gained) will win themselves £100.
We had hoped that our balloon race might qualify as a world record attempt for the greatest number of balloons ever released on a single occasion. However after contacting the Guinness Book of Records, we have found that this might be unlikely*… so we have settled on it being (probably) the largest balloon race in Shropshire ever!
*"The largest mass balloon release ever staged was one of 1,592,744 balloons by Disney Home Video at Longleat House, Wilts, UK on 27 Aug 1994." Courtesy of the Guinness Book of records.
