This month we are donating to a charity suggested by Jo Phillips, FiSer London. Here is Jo's message:
“When he was very young my cousin had a bad accident and was looked after at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, which specialises in head injuries. It was there that my uncle first became involved with bibic which is the 'British Institute for Brain Injured Children'. The hospital and the charity did a phenomenal job and I’m pleased to say that my cousin made a full recovery.
What do bibic do?
Whatever the cause of a child's learning difficulties the effects are still profound. Working with parents and carers, bibic offers a valuable support system which offers time to talk, expert advice and practical help.
Following an inter-disciplinary assessment, we produce tailored programmes to improve the quality of life for the child and family. Parents are then taught how to take an active role in their child's development by implementing these programmes at home.
Progress is carefully monitored and programmes are adjusted as and when necessary.
Since then, my uncle has been a fundraiser for bibic and runs an annual fund raising ball and auction event. He would greatly appreciate any further donation to such a worthy cause.
