Just to start with some inspirational words!!!
"That impossible task
You're thinking of
Is one you can complete
When you're driven by love... Love can move mountains" The Proclaimers
I know that if I just asked my friends and family to give a little money, maybe in return for a top quiz or dinner dance, I could raise a fair amount for the hospice, but that would be too easy. I'm still going to do all the fund-raising events I can and ask for your cash...but i'm hoping that by volunteering to climb Africa's highest mountain the cost to me physically, in time& effort will make your donation seem even more worth while!
In June 2010 I'm climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for 3 reasons...
1) to raise awareness of the fantastic palliative & hospice care we have that truly allows people to die with dignity.
2) to try to repay the debt of gratitude that my whole family have for the staff of St. Andrew's hospice who so lovingly cared for my wee mum Patsy before she died in October 2009.
3) to toast the memory of my fantastic brother Andrew who died from cancer in March 2008
they both showed me that in life (paraphrasing Miss Miley Cyrus here) "what's important is the climb!"...
I'll try to keep this page updated so that you can keep an eye on your investment!
