Story

Help us and give twelve Barefeet members the chance to stand boldly and proudly next to other talented youth from across the globe and showcase what they can do on an international platform. Proving to the world that no matter where you start in life your dreams can always come true. They will bear testament to the fact that children who were once on the street can also positively turn their lives around, shine and make their country proud.

Zambian theatre company `Barefeet` has been chosen to represent Africa and Zambia at a prestigious international theatre festival by Brouhaha ‘Youth in the world- Unlocking the Potential of the Cultural and Creative Industries’. The 2014 Brouhaha festival is being held in Liverpool which has inspired the sounds of global bands like the Beatles. Barefeet will take this opportunity to introduce to the people of Liverpool the sounds of the African drums and create inspiration through Zambian folklore which will leave viewers mesmerized. Furthermore we will travel to the USA and Ireland where we will perform at different festivals and events and will raise awareness for Barefeet and Zambia.

Barefeet’s origins began with the generous support of the people of Ireland. Our very humble beginnings have seen pensioners in small villages, local Irish schools, churches and spirited individuals all get behind the project and make it a reality. So whilst we are in England it seems only fitting to bring the group over to Ireland to thank the people there who have made it a reality. So often we see Europeans coming to Zambia to volunteer, so we are very excited to use this opportunity to bring youth from Zambia for a life changing experience to Europe.

The ultimate goal of Barefeet is to use the arts as a tool to assist in withdrawing children from the streets altogether. Through initiatives like ‘Youth in the World’, we are able to encourage those who have benefited from Barefeet as well as inspire those still living on the streets. The young people travelling this year have an opportunity to fulfill their dreams on an international world stage and experience an adventure they never thought possible.

Whilst on tour most of our meals and accommodation are kindly provided by local host. However we still need some help with travel expenses and other. So please feel free:

- Donate £5 and you'll receive a warm feeling inside knowing that you have helped the whole team a few kilometers closer to their goal

- Donate £10 and you'll receive an even warmer feeling that will make you smile all day knowing that you have provided a dinner for the whole team for one day

- Donate £ 40 and as well as receiving a warm feeling inside, you'll go to sleep knowing that Karma has something good in store for you for the whole team to have peaceful rest for one night!

- Donate £60 or more, and as well as receiving a warm feeling inside, you'll have good Karma for the whole of 2014 because you have just bought a visa for one team member!

- Donate £100 or more... and as well as all the above... you'll have good Karma for a very long time and our most sincere gratitude and you'll know that you MADE THIS HAPPEN.
