Story

I'm  turning 65 in October and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate becoming a pensioner than by running the Cardiff Half Marathon - without wearing shoes!

I might be getting older, but my love of a challenge - and of barefoot
running - is stronger than ever (even if my knees might not be!).

I've done big runs for charity before (My claim to fame is that I was the first person to run the London Marathon barefoot!) but this time it's for a cause particularly close to my heart.

My daughter, Hannah, was pregnant with twins after going through IVF. Very sadly, she lost one of the twins, a little boy called Dylan, at 24
weeks.

It's hard to comprehend the pain that losing a longed for baby brings and it's something that too many couples have to go through.

Sands is a charity that offers support to help mums, dads and grandparents get through such a difficult time. They also fund research to reduce the number of parents affected by stillbirth and neonatal deaths.I hope to raise as much as possible to help them do this essential work. Please help me by donating as much as you can.

Thank you so much!

Steve
