Barry Sheene Memorial Challenge · 12 January 2006

Each day in the UK five families are told their child has cancer or leukaemia. From that moment on their lives will never be the same again. Most children will survive, some will die, but the scars on every family will remain. CLIC's role is to try and help these children and their families cope and keep life as normal as possible. It offers an all-embracing approach including practical hands-on care, clinical services, financial and emotional support. CLIC has joined together with Sargent Cancer Care for Children to become the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity.

Story

Well we made it, 2000 miles of glorious roads and an amazing trip!

We rode 4 race tracks, some without speed limits (some guys sneaked on a couple more), Gus bravely conquered the Nurburgring as well. The roads in France and Germany are fabulous, little traffic and you can blast along all day through beautiful countryside and mountain sweeps.

The bikes held out well and there was an excellent bunch taking part with people from Scotland, Ireland and a great Dutch guy from Assen. Everyone thought it was an incredible event and each night we were reminded of what the money was going towards and why we were doing this in the first place.

There was a wide range of bikes and ages ranged from 17-60's, mostly blokes but a couple of ladies rode pillion and love it. Thanks to Gus for fixing my starter motor on the last day (saved him having to bump start me all the way back to Calais).

Thanks to everyone who supported our efforts, we know that all contributions will be wisely used and do a lot of good for many families.

If you have a motorbike, do this trip, you will love it. If you don't have a bike, GET ONE, you don't know what you are missing!!
