dear all
I am doing a very different london to paris bike ride which will involve 5 days of serious hard cycling on every day of this event and will be about 405 miles.I will be doing this on my own and completely solo at every moment of this trip.I have looked at many organised events who do very little for a huge chunk of the money i.e you must raise at least £1200 why?the charity gets only £500 of this.£700 for a ferry,4 nights basic hotel a few pate baps, eurostar home and a small van to drive behind you.I am doing the same trip and also back again in as many days for £250 all in and i will pay all my own costs so anything you give will go direct to sussex beacon.it will be very serious hard cycling but i am cycling 20-30 miles daily and 50ish miles on a weekend so i will complete this event. Please as much as you can evenif its £1 or £100 it will be well received.
Steve at the marine tavern has been very supportive of my efforts and laurence is collecting sponsors for me and john has helped with some publicity.i look forward to the finnish line at the marine tavern, broad street, brighton at approx 22.30 on friday 10th april so come along for the evening as we will be having a bit of a celebration.
DAY ONE
Today i will cycle london to dover which is 79 miles then catch my ferry to calais.I will stay in untold luxury at my £29 a night hotel and sleeping for a long time.
DAY TWO
will wake up feeling ready to take the small ride to amiens which is a simple shunt at 96 miles stopping for bread and water enroute with maybe a vin rouge.in the evening after about a 10 hour ride i look forward to being very upmarket at my over £30 hotel which looks ok.I would have passed through some stunning french towns. and will be taking loads of pictures to show you all on my return. DAY THREE
TODAY IS HARD
I have 103 miles to cycle from amiens to the eifel tower in paris and thats alot on a push bike.when i arrive in paris i will take a few pics then cycle to my hotel and die.
DAY FOUR
Today is easier at only 72 miles i will go to dammpierre en bray which is tiny and i will crash out early in my b&b for a good sleep.
DAY FIVE
today is end of trip and a simple 65 miles on my bike followed by a 4 hour ferry then a 10 mile ride to end at the marine tavern at 2230 on 10th april
i will be looking forward to seeing as many people as possible at the marine tavern and we will be shaking a few collection jars on the evening.

WELL WHAT CAN I SAY
its all over now and what can i say?what an amazing experience i have just had,3 days of cold, rain and wind with huge hills for many miles and a few 13 hour bike rides with several problems on the way but all sorted out.The last 2 days passed without too much pain for my worn out old body. Thanks to all of you who gave online and also to the enourmous efforts of steve at the marine tavern who has been very generous all the way. It's important to remember that i cycled along way but it's you who have raised the money and what a good job you have all doneI can only say a big thanks.
