Famous beard toter PZ Myers of Pharyngula fame has also offered to join Big Dave and put his beard on the line if the no beard brigade wins!.
Dave and Simon have long disagreed on the merits of Dave's ginger face fuzz. They have decided to settle this the only way they know how, by fund raising.
The rules are simple - please donate a minimum of £2 to our chosen charity and put in the comments either 'beard' or 'no beard'. Each person gets one vote only although you can donate more if you wish. On the 5th July (the day of the Institute of Fundraising Awards), we'll tally the votes and if the "beards" win then Simon will grow a beard for three months and if the "no beards" have it then Dave will shave his beloved crumb catcher. If the votes are tied then we'll do it on the amount of cash donated. If it's still a tie then Si grows and Dave shaves.
Respective beards or clean shaven faces will then be photographed for posterity and kept for at least three months.
