Bearsden West Community Council Foodbank Appeal
Fundraising for The Trussell Trust
Story
Bearsden West Community Council is proposing that we as a Community set up a foodbank collection point in the local area to serve the Glasgow NW foodbank. Studies have shown that people are more likely to donate food if donation points are local. Currently, there is no collection point in Westerton.
With the introduction of Universal credit to Glasgow by December 2018 resources at centers are becoming stretched. Last year in NW Glasgow alone nearly 9000 people used the foodbank, over 4x the population of Westerton. This is unacceptable in the society we live in.
Therefore we are asking, especially in the run-up to Christmas, for donations of the following items:
For those who would not be able to make food donations we will also be collecting funds which can be donated securely online on this page.
I hope we as a community can make this a regular thing and we can make this Christmas drive the start of something bigger.
