As you know our much wanted little boy Beau was born sleeping on 29th April 2010. Liz was 23 weeks pregnant.
Setting up this page is the first step in our mission to raise as much money as possible for this charity that have provided us with support, information, care and some wonderful memories of our baby. We would like the money we raise to go to the Surrey SANDS group which support families and 7 hospitals in the area.
Losing our baby has been the most painful, tragic event but thanks to SANDS the experience at hospital was as good as it possibly could have been. We were placed in a designated bereavement labour room and had specially trained staff looks after us. The room was much more homely than a normal delivery room and was kitted out to make our time in the room as comfortable as possible. I was amazed to be handed a pile of specialist neonatal clothes to chose for Beau and music to listen to as well and hot drinks and plenty of room for Nick to pace around. Our midwife Clare was so kind and gentle just what we needed to get us through it. When Beau was born Clare brought in the room a beautiful bassinet all warm and snuggly and we were given photographs, hand and footprints, Beau's hospital tag in a lovely little box and a couple of other keepsakes in a special gift bag to take home with us, they are the most precious possession's we own now and they are all funded by SANDS. Of course leaving the hosptial without our baby was truly dreadful but at least we had memories of the time we were given with him and the keep sakes to take with us.
The comfort Liz has got from speaking with other parent's facing the same loss through SANDS is also proving to be invaluable.
