Story

Over the last few months we have/are putting ourselves through months of weekend and evening runs in wind, rain and general miserable conditions...putting ourselves in danger of frostbite, sunburn, twisted ankles and the like...this is all in aid of Kick4Life a HIV/AID charity based in Lesotho, South Africa.

Last year Becky visited the Kick4Life projects in Lesotho and witnessed the amazing impact that the education curriculum and football programmes were having on children and young people living there. Lesotho has the third highest prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the world and received relatively little assistance due to it's location (mountainous region landlocked by South Africa), small population, and the fact that many people have never heard of it.

We are both running the Leeds Half Marathon on 8th May 2011. That's 13.1 miles - to put that into context that is like running from Chester to Birkenhead or from Hinckley to Leicester - if you are thinking "HOW HIDEOUS!" then you are not alone...this is not something we are looking forward to, however we hope that this will make you feel sorry for us and donate generously :)

Additional plight:

Kelly - exercise novice (lazy chocolate lover), who's plan to train for a 5km 'race for life' went horribly wrong and she somehow roped herself into a half marathon on the back of no previous running :) This is a pretty big deal...make the pain worth it :) Additionally, it is not confirmed, but widely suspected, that she only possesses 1/2 a lung and one foot.

Becky - completed Sheffield half marathon last year in 2 hours 19 so when donating please bear in mind; 1) She couldn't walk for a week 2) She is aiming for a time of around 2 hours 3) Leeds is the first of 3 - followed by great north run and great south run...that means nearly a year of training - araghhhh

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
