Story
Hey!
I'm Becky and I'm currently overcoming bulimia nervousa.
Yes, I have an eating disorder and I'll openly admit to it. Crazy right? No, no it is not!
Mental health and eating disorders have such a stigma and are portrayed as such a "taboo" subject. I want to break this stigma.
Depression, anxiety, self harm, eating disorders and other mental health disorders shouldn't be something people are scared to talk about, especially when there are so many people who have or will suffer with some sort of mental health disorder in their lifetime.
Having a eating disorder isn't a choice that someone makes just because they want to be skinny or eat healthier, contrary to popular belief.
Did you know that eating disorders have the highest fatality rate of any mental health disorder?
Exactly, we need to take this stuff seriously!
So, I bet you're all wondering why I'm blabbering on about this?!
Well as part of my recovery and to raise awareness, I am going to attempt to complete the next Cardiff Half Marathon, on 26th March 2016
I am going to be running to raise money for Beat.
Beat is the UK’s leading charity supporting anyone affected by eating disorders or difficulties with food, weight and shape.
Beat's vision is that eating disorders can and will be beaten. This is something I strongly believe in as well.
Thankfully, I am managing to overcome my demons but there are many others out there that aren't at this stage and need all the love and support they can get.
By donating to Beat you will be helping someone get the support that they need to begin their road to recovery.
Any donation big or small is gratefully appreciated of course!
And please do spread the word amongst your friends, work colleagues and family - I want to raise as much money as I can for such an amazing cause!
Thank you for reading and taking the time to visit my page!
Becky
