Oxford Mail OX5 RUN 2019 · 24 March 2019 ·
As you will all know, I’m far from a natural runner. I’ve been looking for something to work toward which might help me lose a little weight and when the OX5 run was mentioned as something the company supported I thought, why not! 5k-how hard could it be.
It was then brought to my attention on 21st December at our Christmas party that actually it was 5 MILES not 5 kilometres.
On weighing myself and learning that the pre Christmas excess meant I was closer to 21 stone than 20 stone, the size of the challenge became clear.
So since 27th December I have been training, mainly at night in the cold and rain. I’ve gone from starting at run 1 minute- walk 1 minute and am now regularly doing over 4 miles per session. And I’ll be honest, I really don’t enjoy it!!!
This all culminates on Sunday 24th March when I will run non stop for 5 miles up hill and down dale through the grounds of Blenheim Palace in aid of this wonderful charity.
So if the idea of me doing something I don’t really enjoy for the good of others appeals. If the thought of me sweating, aching and swearing my way through the rain and cold warms your heart. Please donate! 😊
