ACE help improve the lives of local communities and the welfare of their working animals, by easing and preventing the suffering of those and all animals through provision of sustainable veterinary treatment and education programmes for local people

Story

Please sponsor me! I'm running ten 10k races over the next 9 months to try to raise as much money as possible for Animal Care in Egypt before I go to visit them in December 09. Even if you only sponsor me 10p per race, every little bit helps!

I'm supporting ACE because they're one of a group of charities I feel very strongly about; charities that help improve people's lives via providing veterinary care for their animals. The animals benefit, as do the owners, who are often reliant upon their animals to work.

My first race was on 8th March at Clapham Common, and I plodded round in the time of 1 hour 9 minutes and 40 seconds!

Race 2, the Hertford Charity 10k- finished in 1 hour 5 mins and 2 seconds!

Race 3, the St Albans 10k on 10th May- 1 hour 5 mins 22 seconds!

Race 4 was the Whipsnade Zoo Stampede, which was fantastic fun as I was running past zebra, rhino, cheetas etc, all in nice large paddock type enclosures! I also achieved a PB with a time of 1 hour 2 mins and 50 seconds. Aiming for under an hour now!

Race 5 was the British 10k, which I ran with my good friend Kirsten. After queueing for the start for an hour we whizzed round the sights of London in 1 hour 6 minutes.

Race 6 was the BBC Runners 10k, which Kirsten again joined me for and we finished in about 1hour 5; not exact timing, sadly!

Race 7/8 was Run to the Beat, which is actually a half marathon! I decided I get to count this as two 10k's since it's actually 22k! Again, Kirsten joined me and we finished in 2 hours 33.

Between race 8 and 9 and 10, college took over my life for a bit, so some races were pushed back a little...

Race 9 was the Excel Hotelympia 10k, which I staggered round in the pouring rain, and I finished in some time over an hour.

Race 10 will be in London in August, but I'll have to book it once I start work and know when I'm on call! However now that finals are done with (and technically I'm a real vet now!) I'll have plenty of time to train for the rest of the month. Wish me luck...
